Abstrak

This community service program addressed low productivity in native-chicken seed production at Pemuda Libureng Farm, Mattirowalie Village, Libureng District, Bone Regency. Prior to the intervention, the partner utilized a conventional wooden incubator with a capacity of 50 eggs, manual egg turning, unstable lamp-based heating, and complete reliance on grid electricity. Consequently, hatchability was limited to 30–40%. The program implemented a Smart Solar Incubator that integrated solar photovoltaic power, battery storage, grid backup, automatic temperature control, and an automatic egg-turning mechanism. The technology transfer was complemented by training in hatching management, biosecurity, basic cash-flow recording, cost-of-production calculation, standardized chick-box packaging, and digital marketing. The core field implementation was completed in June 2026. Program documentation indicated hatchability exceeding 85% and operational energy efficiency reaching up to 70%. Furthermore, egg turning transitioned from three manual turns per day to automatic operation every three hours. The partner also adopted basic business bookkeeping and digital marketing through Facebook Marketplace and WhatsApp Business. Revenue growth exceeding the baseline is considered a program projection, as longitudinal post-program financial records were not available in the provided evidence. The intervention demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating appropriate renewable-energy technology and community education in jointly enhancing rural poultry production and local food resilience.
