PERBANDINGAN KINERJA ASPHALT CONRETE-BINDER COURSE (AC-BC) MENGGUNAKAN FILLER SEMEN DAN ASBUTON BUTIR BRA TIPE B5/20 BERDASARKAN UJI MARSHALL
Abstract
Buton asphalt (Asbuton) is a natural material that has the potential to replace or complement petroleum asphalt in road pavement mixtures. The use of asbuton as an additive, modification material, or substitute in asphalt mixtures is being promoted by the government. One of them is the use of asbuton as a filler in the hot mix of AC-BC layers. The use of local materials such as Buton asphalt (asbuton) as a substitute for conventional fillers in hot asphalt mixtures is considered to have the potential to improve road pavement performance. This study aims to compare the performance of Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course (AC-BC) mixtures using cement filler and BRA type B5/20 granular asbuton based on Marshall test parameters. The research method includes testing the characteristics of aggregates and asphalt, making test specimens with varying asphalt content (4.5%, 5.0%, 5.5%, 6.0%, and 6.5%), as well as analyzing Marshall test parameters such as density, VIM, VMA, VFB, stability, flow and Marshall Quotient (MQ). The results showed that the mixture with 2.5% asphalt buton filler resulted in increased stability (1,316.5 kg), density (2.276 gr/cc), and MQ (362.33 kg/mm) compared to 1% cement filler, with a decrease in VIM (4.318%) and VMA (17.866%). The Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC) of both mixtures was the same, at 5.5%, but the asphalt buton filler performed better in terms of strength and durability. These findings demonstrate that BRA type B5/20 granular asphalt buton is suitable for use as an environmentally friendly filler alternative in AC-BC mixtures, according to the 2018 Bina Marga Revision 2 specifications.
