Open Access Policy

The Journal of Infrastructural in Civil Engineering (JICE), published by Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, provides immediate, free online access to articles published through its current journal platform. JICE supports the dissemination and responsible reuse of scholarly work in civil engineering, infrastructure development, and related disciplines.

The journal is guided by the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), promoting access to scholarly knowledge while respecting the copyright and licensing terms applicable to each publication.

Open Access Principles and Reader Rights

JICE makes articles published on its current platform openly available upon publication. Readers are not required to pay subscription fees or per-article access charges to access the published full text.

Subject to the license and any third-party rights applying to an individual article, readers may:

  • Access: Read, download, print, search, and link to published articles free of charge.
  • Share: Copy and redistribute licensed material in any medium or format.
  • Reuse: Adapt, transform, and build upon licensed material where permitted by the applicable license and its conditions.

Open access does not remove the obligation to acknowledge original authorship, comply with the applicable reuse license, or respect separately identified third-party materials.

02

Copyright, Licensing, and Responsible Reuse

Authors retain copyright in their scholarly works and grant JICE a non-exclusive right of first publication, together with the rights needed to publish and preserve the scholarly record. Copyright is not transferred to JICE as a condition of publication.

Articles published under the journal's current licensing policy are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Copy and redistribute licensed materials in any medium or format, including commercially.

ADAPT

Remix, transform, and build upon licensed materials, including commercially.

Use and redistribution under CC BY-SA 4.0 are subject to the following conditions:

  • Attribution: Give appropriate credit to the authors, acknowledge the original publication, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes were made.
  • ShareAlike: When licensed content is adapted and shared, distribute the adaptation under CC BY-SA 4.0 or another license recognized as compatible under its terms.
  • No additional restrictions: Do not impose legal terms or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising rights granted by the license.
  • Third-party materials: Observe any separate copyright or license notices applying to images, figures, datasets, or other third-party content.

License applies to the individual article

The applicable license is the one assigned to each publication. The current journal-wide licensing policy does not automatically change the terms governing previously published articles.

See the journal's Copyright and Licensing Policy for further details.

04

Access to Current and Historical Publications

Published articles and available issues can be accessed through the current JICE online publishing platform:

Some historical publication records from the journal's previous publishing platform may not currently be accessible through the present website due to earlier technical disruptions. JICE is coordinating the verification and potential recovery of historical article files and bibliographic records where reliable sources are available.

The journal does not represent that all historical materials have already been restored. Its approach to continuity, records recovery, backups, and long-term preservation is described in the Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy.

05

Commitment to Scholarly Accessibility

JICE seeks to promote equitable access to civil engineering research, improve the discoverability and responsible reuse of publications, and support scholarly communication among researchers, practitioners, institutions, and the public.

The editorial team is committed to transparent copyright and licensing information, clear distinctions between reader access and publication fees, and continuous improvement of electronic access and preservation arrangements.

This policy will be reviewed periodically to remain consistent with JICE's actual publishing practices, applicable licensing arrangements, and internationally recognized open access principles.
