Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of an unsignalized intersection under existing conditions prior to the construction of a new facility. The study location is a three-leg intersection at Jl. Ir. PH. Moch Noor – Jl. Pelita, in Murung Pudak District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan. The analysis was conducted using the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI 1997) and supported by traffic modeling with Contram version 5.09 software. Primary data were obtained through field surveys of intersection geometry and peak-hour traffic volume. The calculation results show that the final capacity of the intersection is 7847 pcu/hour, with a total traffic volume of 1992 pcu/hour and a degree of saturation of 0.25. The total delay was recorded at 6.84 seconds/vehicle, with a queue probability of 11.44%. Based on these parameters, the intersection is categorized as having a Level of Service (LOS) A. These findings indicate that the intersection currently operates in very good condition and has sufficient capacity to accommodate potential traffic increases due to future development. This study can serve as a technical reference for planning and permitting development projects at the site.
