JICE JOURNAL POLICIES

Copyright and Licensing Policy

The Journal of Infrastructural in Civil Engineering (JICE), published by Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, respects authors' intellectual property rights and supports the responsible dissemination and reuse of scholarly research in civil engineering and related disciplines.

Authors retain copyright to their scholarly works, while JICE receives non-exclusive permission to publish and preserve articles as part of the scholarly record. Articles published under the journal's current open access licensing policy are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

PUBLISHING RIGHTS

Non-exclusive

JICE receives first-publication and preservation rights.

CURRENT LICENSE

CC BY-SA 4.0

Sharing and adaptation are permitted subject to license terms.

01

Copyright Ownership

Authors keep copyright and grant limited, non-exclusive publication rights.

Authors retain copyright ownership of their submitted and published scholarly works. Transfer or assignment of copyright to JICE or its publisher is not a condition of publication.

By publishing in JICE, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right of first publication, together with permission necessary to publish, reproduce, distribute, make available online, archive, and preserve the article as part of the journal's scholarly record.

Authors are responsible for submitting original work and ensuring that their manuscripts do not infringe the intellectual property rights of others. They must secure any necessary permission or other lawful authorization before incorporating third-party materials.

Copyright remains with the author. A non-exclusive right to publish does not transfer copyright ownership to the journal.

02

Open Access Licensing

Sharing, adaptation, attribution, and ShareAlike requirements.

Articles published under JICE's current licensing policy are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). This license permits broad reuse of licensed material, including for commercial purposes, provided its conditions are met.

PERMISSIONS

Share — Copy and redistribute licensed material in any medium or format, including commercially.

Adapt — Remix, transform, translate, or build upon licensed material, including commercially.

LICENSE CONDITIONS

Attribution — Credit the creators, acknowledge the original publication, link to the license, and indicate changes made.

ShareAlike — Distribute shared adaptations under the same or an officially compatible license.

Users must not apply additional legal terms or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising rights granted by the license. Attribution must not suggest endorsement by the authors or JICE.

The Creative Commons license applies to material that the relevant rights holder has authorized for licensing. Separately identified third-party content may be subject to different copyright or reuse conditions.

03

Authors' Rights

Responsible reuse, self-archiving, and additional distribution.

Authors may reuse, share, teach with, and distribute their own published articles, consistent with the applicable article-level license and any third-party rights. They may also:

  • Self-archive and disseminate. Deposit the published article in institutional repositories, research repositories, or personal academic websites, subject to applicable rights and licensing conditions.
  • Use their work in subsequent scholarship. Reuse their own findings and content in later research, academic teaching, or scholarly publications, with appropriate acknowledgment of the original publication.
  • Enter non-exclusive distribution arrangements. Agree to additional non-exclusive distribution of the published work, provided those arrangements respect the existing license and acknowledge first publication in JICE.

When redistributing a published article, authors should identify JICE as the original place of publication and provide the article citation or DOI, where available.

04

Third-Party Materials

Permissions and clear identification of separately licensed content.

Authors must ensure that materials obtained from third parties are used legally and with appropriate attribution. Depending on the research, such material may include photographs, engineering drawings, site plans, maps, diagrams, tables, figures, survey data, or datasets.

Where necessary, authors must obtain permission from the copyright holder or rely on another applicable legal basis for the intended use. Permissions must cover the proposed manner of publication and distribution where required.

Third-party material that is not included in the article's CC BY-SA 4.0 license must be clearly identified through a credit line, copyright notice, or other appropriate statement specifying its separate rights or licensing status. Readers must observe those conditions before reusing such material.

05

Licensing Transparency

Clear article-level terms and protection of previously granted licenses.

JICE seeks to display copyright ownership and the applicable reuse license clearly on its journal website and in published article files and metadata, as supported by the publishing system.

The license governing an individual article is the license assigned to that publication. Changes to the journal's current general copyright or open access policies do not automatically replace or revoke licensing terms previously applied to published articles.

Any future changes in the journal's copyright or licensing arrangements will be communicated transparently and implemented with due regard to existing author rights and publication agreements.

For related information on reader access and reuse, consult the Open Access Policy.

Related Policies and License Information

The following resources explain the journal's publication model, authorship obligations, and applicable reuse rights.

Core principle: Authors retain copyright. JICE publishes scholarly work under a non-exclusive first-publication arrangement, and reuse must respect the license and rights applicable to each individual article.
